A strange phenomenon...
While working on what was supposed to be nothing more than a simple GUI update, I noticed someone something... strange had manifested in the games code. No matter what I did, no matter how many rollbacks I tried, tweaks I attempted, lines I deleted, it always came back. It's like it ingrained itself into the program with no way of pulling it out, making itself at home in a game it was never intended to be in.
I can't find anything online about this, no matter how hard I try. I've dug and dug and dug into forums from ages ago and still, no dice. And frankly, I'm a little tired of screwing with it. I've uploaded the current build to the main page of the game and attached it down below - you think you guys could give it a go for me and see what's up? Do a little playtesting, as it were.
Surely we can figure out this little syntax error together.. right guys?
Here's some hints from our own testing to start you off:
- Code changes are only accessible after completing both routes. The game will give you a message after the route end screen when you've met requirements.
- Code deviation starts at the first choice.
- Save files carry over, but progress towards the new code may not - if you've played before you may need to complete routes again in order to see it.
- Title screen seems to track progress - keep an eye on it.
- Whatever's in here doesn't seem to like us very much.
More research is necessary. Godspeed, and good luck.
WARNING. THIS UPDATE CONTAINS:
- Flashing/glitchy imagery
- Unreality
- Descriptions of gore
If these things bother you, tread lightly. The game itself will contain a warning letting you know you're about to go down the path containing this content. It was the least I could do for now to keep it at bay, but more may be done in the future to hold it off.
